Gordon Heinrichs, DC: Author and speaker
Medical writer, speaker, and health literacy advocate, Dr. Gordon Heinrichs has informed audiences up and down the West Coast, in the U.S. and Canada, about why superior communication with their doctors is vital to their health. Most speaking engagements have been to service groups such as Rotaries and Kiwanis. When community leaders such as these become active with their own doctors with a message of improving doctor-patient communication, it benefits all patients who also seek help from that doctor.
Research has shown that senior citizens are particularly vulnerable to medical miscommunication because they take more medications, see more specialists, and tend to be more complex medically due to more illnesses and chronic conditions. Therefore due to a higher rate of interaction with our medical system, there is a greater chance for misunderstanding. Although Dr. Heinrichs has only spoken to a few groups of seniors, he would like to expand that list of engagements. He lives in northwest Washington State and is willing to travel.
Because of his unique and varied background in healthcare and education, his audiences have enjoyed his engaging, thought provoking style of delivery.
